Network Infrastructure and Digital Connectivity at CPGSAS (CAU-I), Umiam

The Information Technology (IT) Cell, College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGSAS), Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Umiam campus, has significantly upgraded its network infrastructure to provide a robust, reliable, and high-speed digital environment for academic and research activities. The network facility has been developed in a planned decentralized model, ensuring efficient and seamless connectivity across various locations within the campus.

As part of this enhancement, the college has deployed Bharat Fiber BSNL FTTH connections along with BSNL Air FibreNet connections. These connections are strategically installed across departments, laboratories, administrative blocks, and common facilities to ensure uninterrupted internet access for students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff.

Through this upgraded network system, students and faculty members can directly access a wide range of academic and research resources, including:

    1. KOHA OPAC Online Library System for seamless library catalog access
    2. CeRA (Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture) for scholarly journals
    3. Access to IP-based academic e-journals and e-books
    4. Various national and international digital repositories and databases
    5. Other essential e-learning and research platforms

This initiative aims to strengthen digital learning, promote advanced research, and support academic excellence by providing easy and equitable access to information resources.

Further, the college is in the process of enhancing its IT infrastructure by establishing a campus-wide Local Area Network (LAN) along with a dedicated leased line, which is expected to be operational soon. This upcoming upgrade will further improve bandwidth capacity, network stability, and data accessibility, thereby enabling high-performance computing, online collaboration, and digital education initiatives.

The continuous development of network facilities at CPGSAS reflects the institution’s commitment to adopting modern technologies and creating a digitally empowered academic ecosystem for its stakeholders.

The IT Cell of the College is actively functioning to support and oversee the institution’s digital infrastructure, services, and technological initiatives.
